Verizon FIOS Outage - Internet Down

Verizon FIOS internet outages were reported all throughout the DMV area around 11:15 AM on January 26.

UPDATE: The issue has been resolved

According to DownDetector, the outages were reported in the following locations:

  • New York
  • Maryland
  • Washington DC
  • Pennsylvania
  • New Jersey
  • Virginia
  • Massachusetts

Based on the outage report, The Bronx, NY, Baltimore, MD, and Brooklyn, NY are most affected by the internet outage.

According to Verizon Support, the internet outage was caused by “a fiber cut in Brooklyn” and there is no ETR.

The speculation is that the widespread slowdown was due to the network traffic rerouting.

Some school districts in Northern Virginia are aware of the internet outages.

There are widespread internet outages being reported in the Northern Virginia area and it may be affecting internet access at home. This is not related to a single FCPS tool or a single service provider. Generally, these issues get resolved quickly, please check with your internet service provider if you continue to have connectivity issue beyond 30 minutes.
