When we switched our phones to iPhones back in the days, AT&T had an exclusive deal on mobile services and it was the only option for us. We’ve been stuck with AT&T for about 7-8 years. When we were with AT&T, we’ve been feeling that we were paying too much for our mobile services. Because we rarely use our phones outside of WIFI networks, and we used to send texts & most of the phone calls through an app, it didn’t make much sense for us to pay $130 per month for 2 phones.
Then we’ve heard about a new mobile service provider called Ting from a local news. It spawned from one of our local towns. We’ve put a lot of hours researching their product and the company. User feedback and reviews were more than satisfying. What impressed me the most was their customer service. I’ve had more than 10 sessions on their online chat customer service. Each time, they responded promptly and didn’t waste time with canned messages.
In April 2015, we’ve finally made the move. Everything looked good, and we were ready to go. The transition was seamless. We were able to use our AT&T iPhones by unlocking them through AT&T’s web service without a problem. What surprised us the most was the first bill.
The savings were unreal. Almost $100 a month saved! Ting is NOT a pre-paid phone service. It was a new concept at the time – you pay only for what you use for the month. Since then, we’ve added an extra phone to our account. We now average about $50-60 a month with 3 phones.
Why We Love Ting and Why You Should Consider Switching Too
Ting Provides Real-Time Usage Data
Ting’s Customer Service is Awesome
They always answer your call with the minimum wait time. We usually use the online chat feature, but it is only available during their business hours. They don’t waste your time. They get to the point right away without asking a bunch of useless questions.
There’s no long-term contract with Ting
This is my favorite part. If you don’t like the service, cancel it on the web and move on.
Ting only charges for what you use.
No hidden fees, no upselling, no surprises. There’s no plan to choose from. You can, however, get an estimated bill using Ting’s bill estimate tool.
Ting helps you get out of your contract early with your current phone company
Ting gives you a credit for switching up to 25% of your early termination penalty fee charged by your current phone company.
I strongly recommend Ting for your mobile phone service if you are looking for some ways to reduce your monthly bill. For us, it was a no-brainer after learning that there’s no long-term contract with Ting. If there’s any problem we face in the future, we will share them here as well.
