Senate Minority Leader Schumer said today:
“One of the first things that I want to do is deliver the $2,000 checks to the American families.”


“Socialism for the rich” was the hot topic today. It was first brought up by Mitch McConnell during the Senate’s New Year’s Eve session.

“Socialism for rich people is a terrible way to help the American families that are actually struggling” ~McConnell

Sanders responded to Mitch McConnell with a list of examples of big tax breaks for the rich.

“Under that bill Charles Koch, one of the very richest people in America, he has a net worth of $113 billion, that bill gave Mr. Koch a $1.4 billion tax break” ~Sanders


Bernie Sanders asked if McConnell would add the $2,000 checks vote to follow the NDAA override vote tomorrow – McConnell said “no”

“The initial direct deposit payments may begin arriving as early as tonight for some and will continue into next week.”


Mitch McConnell blocks Senate Democrats’ efforts to unanimously pass a House measure to up the stimulus checks to $2,000 from $600. No explanations are given.


The House of Representatives passed a measure to increase stimulus checks on Monday. The legislation passed with a 275-134 vote. The Senate votes tomorrow.
